Our COVID-19 Response

Early in 2020, our social impact team quickly realized COVID-19 would have a disproportionate health and economic impact on the Black and brown communities of South LA. As a result, we focused most of our resources addressing the financial, health, and educational needs of those most affected by the pandemic.

Our COVID-19 response consists of the following relief initiatives.

Workforce Development

With the support of Oprah Winfrey, Ashley and Marc Merrill, Jimmy Iovine and others, we have awarded over $1 million in scholarships to 201 CORE scholars.

We have delivered fresh nutritious food for 45 consecutive weeks.

Free COVID Testing

Over the last 9 months, we've partnered with St. John's to provide free COVID testing to over 300 South LA residents.

Financial Assistance

We secured $300,000+ in financial assistance for SoLa tenants

Free WIFI through 1000 for 1000

We launched 1000 for 1000, chaired by Jade Iovine, to raise $500,000 to provide free wifi to 1000 South LA families.

Chromebook Drive

We distributed $60,000+ worth of Chromebooks to 200+ kids with NBA All-Star Baron Davis and his Black Santa team.
