Intro to Beatmaking

Love music? Learn to make beats, mix tracks, and create your own songs using Ableton Live 12. Explore different genres, find your sound, and build real skills. By the end, you’ll have finished songs to share on a class-wide mixtape.

Jump into our beginner guitar class and start playing well-known songs! You'll learn essential chords, strumming patterns, and simple music theory. Get ready to build, create, and pitch! SoLa’s 3-Day Entrepreneurship Program is a hands-on experience for high school students to learn the fundamentals of business, from idea to execution. Over three afternoons from 5–7 pm, students will develop a business concept, create a prototype using our Material Science Lab, and present their ideas for a chance to win a prize. It’s innovation, creativity, and real-world skills—all packed into three dynamic days.

From Sketch to Storefront: Launch Your Clothing Brand

SoLa Studios: Directing Workshop

Ever wanted to be a film director? With this four-week intensive, you'll have the chance to work on your directing skills by filming four short scenes in our studio! We'll be covering visual storytelling, camerawork, working with actors, and so much more in this hands-on workshop. 

Photography Creative Careers

Are you interested in photography or exploring creative careers? Join us for two exciting sessions of the Photography Creative Careers Program. First, come to Portrait Day + Cyanotype Workshop on Tuesday, July 29th from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the SoLa Tech Center to shoot portraits and create your own cyanotype prints. Then, don’t miss the Free Community Photowalk in Leimert Park on Tuesday, August 5th from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, where LA-based Black photographers will guide you through capturing the beauty of the community.
